Standards for Education and Competencies for the Professional Homeopathic Practitioner in North America

Accreditation Standards for the Doctoral Degree in Homeopathy

Dear Homeopathic Community:

The Homeopathic Action Alliance (HAA), and its affiliated organizations*, is pleased to release the final edition of the document tiled:  Standards for Education and Competencies for the Professional Homeopathic Practitioner in North America.

The release of this document represents the completion of a public comment process and the culmination of several years of work.  HAA would like to thank those who participated in the 2010 Summit that was instrumental to the development of this document.  Appreciation is also extended to the 99 individuals who submitted comments during the public comment period and those who participated in a community wide Conference Call to provide testimony.

A committee of five individuals, representing organizations that participate in HAA, met to deliberate on the comments.  The committee carefully reviewed every comment that was submitted.  Comments were categorized by nature of the comment and note was made of the frequency with which similar comments were received.

It should be noted that the committee held a series of seven, 2 hour meetings between mid-June and the end of August.  In addition, committee member each spent between 20 to 50 additional hours engaged in thoughtful review and editing of drafts of the document.  As one committee member described it, “It was indeed a labor of love”.

The committee made significant revisions to the document to reflect the comments received.  The committee was prepared to make decisions on a majority rules basis but is very pleased to express that all decisions were unanimously agreed upon.  The Summary of Comments and Deliberations describes in detail the comments received and the actions taken by the committee.

It is our sincere hope that the document will serve as both a unifying vision for our community and a useful guide for practitioners, schools of homeopathy and national homeopathic organizations as they pursue their individual missions.

Sincerely,
Eric Foxman,
